I am a clinical psychologist licensed in Florida and Virgina with over 8 years of specialized experience in the evaluation and treatment of autism. I was the Director of a non-profit organization in Louisville, Kentucky which specialized in early diagnosis and integrative treatment of autism. I quickly realized the adversity this population faces with receiving proper diagnostics, medical and educational care and became a passionate advocate for improving their quality of services within the mental health care field.
Most of my training in graduate school focused on child development, trauma, diversity and gender studies. I always had an interest in improving the quality of mental health services for people with high levels of adversity. When I began working with the autism community, I was shocked and disheartened to see the quality of services and the lack professional training specific to this community. I also fell in love with many of the endearing, quirky and rich internal experiences my clients with autism would share with me. I became committed to be a provider that could deliver quality psychological services in a way that would validate, support and empower individuals with autism, as well as their family members and caregivers.
In my extensive work with evaluating and diagnosing autism I have found that every individual has a strengths profile which can be utilized for their success. I find that breaking down misinformation and misconceptions with the vast spectrum that is autism can help validate one's unique experience with their presentation. I help clients understand and contextualize their developmental profile consisting of multiple domains and range of skills.
