Intro

Hello!  My name is Katie, and I am licensed as a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida.  I have approximately 11 years of mental health field experience. I am an Autistic ADHDer myself and have worked with Autistic and ADHD clients, even before joining Prosper Health.  In particular, I love helping neurodivergent clients learn how to better manage their anxieties and mood difficulties in order to improve their quality of life.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Initially, I got to volunteer at a camp for Autistic kids and I loved it. However, over time my motivation has become a lot more personal. Both myself and my husband are late diagnosed AuDHD (autistic and ADHD) and I want to help others who are also Autistic/ADHD/otherwise Neurodivergent.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

Growing up as an Autistic/ADHD individual who didn't know they were neurodivergent left me feeling out of place in the world, like I didn't fit in.  All too often, I hear this from my Autistic/ADHD clients as well.  I don't want anybody to feel like they are not enough or that they have to change the core of who they are to belong.  Rather, I want to help people, like me, reduce their anxiety and depression levels, and create a life worth living where they know they belong.
