About

Greetings! I'm thrilled you're here. My name is Jay Middleton, Ph.D.. I currently live in Pittsburg, KS , and am Licensed in Kansas. I am eager to be a part of your journey to better understand yourself and your interactions with others. Critical to this journey is empowering you to have as much sovereignty over the assessment process as feasible.  This includes creating an environment that is safe and growth-oriented. My hope is that through working together, you can engage in growth and gain insight.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University; Masters in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University; Bachelors in Psychology from University of Kansas; Bachelors in Communications from the University of Kansas
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Part of motivation for working with neurodivergent individuals is my own journey in better understanding myself. I also have a passion for psychological assessment, which I find intellectual and personally rewarding. I enjoy working with other autistic folks, as I find that they often have unique views of the world and others. I also understand many of the challenges this community faces, and it is important to me to join them in learning how to better navigate these challenges.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

It is critical that a healthy therapeutic relationship is developed to make the assessment process as fruitful as possible. This relationship is built by providing a warm and safe environment that allows for personal exploration and growth. I also find it important in understanding the client's unique strengths and these strengths can be used to fuel personal growth.
