Intro

Hello!  My name is Erika Koschei and I am a licensed New York State Psychologist who has been working in schools and private practice settings for the past 30+ years. I have worked with special needs students and have been a strong advocate for the inclusion of neurodivergent students with neurotypical children for many years.  I am very excited to be joining the Prosper Health team to serve those seeking clarity and help on their life's journey.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I have been working for years in schools with an increasing neurodivergent population.  I also have a nephew who is neurodivergent and for whom I have served as an advocate when his school was not meeting his needs adequately.  My niece's daughter is also neurodivergent, and I see the value of clarifying diagnosis for the child and family.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

In my work, I've noticed that there is often a focus on what people who are neurodivergent can't do, rather than noting their strengths and using them to move them forward.  I have helped multiple children move their way out of special class programs to meet their academic and social needs more appropriately.
