About
Welcome! I am glad you're taken this rewarding step. My name is Elisha Manning and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker living in Virginia. I am passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate the twists and turns of life. As a clinician, I believe in creating a safe, supportive, and accepting space where you feel truly free to express yourself and be met with understanding. I became a therapist because I know that life does not come with an instruction book, and sometimes we all need someone who can walk beside us on our journey. Seeing individuals gain confidence, overcome triggers, and thrive gives me the drive to continue doing this work. My goal is to create a partnership with you, helping you to uncover your strengths and empower you as we take this journey together.
My motivation to work with autistic adults stems from my personal experience as a support for close friends and family members who were diagnosed on the Autism spectrum. Over the years, I have witnessed their resiliency and strength as they have learned to navigate a world that does not always supply the proper resources or supports they need. Seeing this gap in care, motivated me to take on an active role in helping to bridge these gaps and offer a safe, supportive environment where neurodivergent individuals feel free to unmask without fear of being misunderstood.
I prioritize a strengths-based approach, focusing on each individuals unique abilities. Each one of us retain unique personality traits, abilities, and skills that sets us apart. I believe in using these unique abilities and skills as a base to build our therapeutic process to navigate challenges and take action steps towards your goals. I believe in use of an affirming approach to support you in feeling understood, seen, empowered, and valued. I actively listen to their experiences and validate their feelings, creating a safe space where they can express themselves authentically.
