About
Hello! I'm Dr. Trent and I am a Clinical Psychologist living in Ann Arbor, MI. I am licensed in Michigan and Virginia, as well as authorized to provide telehealth services in 41 other states through Psypact! (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap). I have a lot of experience completing psychological assessments for both kids and adults in various contexts. Because of that I have learned how to ask the right questions and listen well to get the information I need to be the most helpful. I believe that the purpose of psychological assessment is to guide treatment to be the most effective based on evidence. More simply put, "good assessment" leads to "good treatment." No matter what your specific difficulties are right now in your life, I would like to help figure out what will help you the most to feel like you are thriving and able to reach the goals you have for your life. It's important for you to feel comfortable sharing about your life and maybe struggles. It's my job to make sure you feel safe, respected, and heard, and I hope you will let me do that! See you soon!
My motivation in my work with clients is to help people understand themselves better, so they can be a more effective advocate for themselves. I have seen how impactful it can be to have a thorough and accurate psychological evaluation can be for someone who has been feeling confused and "stuck." I hope my work with you can be a jumping off point for self-discovery and improvement.
When I meet with you, I will focus on your descriptions of your life experiences, taking your unique perspective and identity into account. I work hard to make the therapy space warm and welcoming (even virtually!). I make sure to double check and clarify what you really mean and the important details you mention. Listening well is the number one skill needed for good assessment.
