About

Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here!!

My name is Dr. Yelena Matevosyan, and I am a licensed psychologist in California. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping individuals and families gain a deeper understanding of themselves through thoughtful, comprehensive assessment and compassionate care.

My background includes working with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of settings, with a particular focus on diagnostic clarification. I believe that understanding patterns is often the first step toward meaningful growth, which is why I approach every individual with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.Whether you are seeking answers, support, or a clearer understanding of yourself or a loved one, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I recognize that every person’s story is unique, and I strive to provide care that is individualized, collaborative, and grounded in both clinical expertise and genuine human connection.

I look forward to being part of your journey toward greater clarity, confidence, and well-being!

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My passion for working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals comes from a desire to help people better understand themselves and to ensure they are seen beyond labels or assumptions. Throughout my career, I have found that many individuals and families spend years searching for answers, often feeling misunderstood or uncertain about why certain challenges exist. Being able to provide clarity, insight, and direction during that process is incredibly meaningful to me. I am deeply committed to the neurodiversity-affirming perspective that different does not mean deficient. Every individual has a unique way of experiencing, processing, and interacting with the world. My role is to help identify strengths, understand areas of difficulty, and provide recommendations that support success and well-being.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I take a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to every evaluation. While understanding areas of difficulty is important, I believe it is equally important to recognize each person's unique strengths, abilities, and way of experiencing the world. As a diagnostician, I often say "patterns before labels." My goal is not simply to determine whether a diagnosis is present, but to help individuals and families gain a deeper understanding of how a person thinks, learns, communicates, and functions. I view diagnosis as a tool for insight and self-understanding, not as something that defines a person. I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. My hope is that every individual leaves the process feeling understood, validated, and empowered to build on their strengths.
