About
Hello and welcome! I'm Dr. Will Nation, and I'm so glad you're here. I currently live in Baltimore, Maryland, and I'm licensed as a psychologist in Maryland with PSYPACT authorization to practice across most states. My work centers on supporting neurodivergent individuals—particularly autistic adults—through comprehensive, affirming assessments that honor who you are and help you access the understanding and resources you deserve. I believe in creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and understood throughout the evaluation process. My goal is to partner with you in gaining clarity about your experiences and strengths, whether you're seeking diagnosis for accommodations, validation, or simply to better understand yourself.
My passion for working with autistic and neurodivergent adults comes from over a decade of clinical work where I've witnessed how transformative it can be when someone finally gets an explanation that fits their lived experience. I've spent years developing therapeutic approaches specifically designed for neurodivergent populations—including pioneering work using tabletop gaming in therapy that's been featured in TIME Magazine and the American Psychological Association. I founded PROTAG (Professional Organization for Therapeutically Applied Gaming) because I believe mental health care should meet people where they are, in spaces and formats where they already feel comfortable and connected. This same philosophy drives my assessment work: I see autism as one of many ways brains can be a little different, not a deficit to be pathologized. My goal is to help you gain insight that empowers you, validates your experiences, and opens doors to the support and community you're seeking.
I bring a neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based approach to every assessment. This means I actively work to understand your unique experiences, communication style, and perspective, not to compare you against neurotypical standards, but to recognize the ways your brain works and the strengths you bring to the world. I create a collaborative process where your input matters, your experiences are validated, and the goal is clarity and empowerment rather than diagnosis alone. I use evidence-based assessment tools while ensuring the process feels respectful and tailored to you. As someone who has worked extensively with queer and neurodivergent communities, I'm particularly attuned to how intersecting identities shape experiences, and I'm committed to providing culturally responsive care that honors all aspects of who you are.
