About
Welcome, it is a joy to see you seeking help! My name is Wendy J. Biss. I have worked as a Licensed Psychologist for nearly 20 years. First in private practice in Washington state for nearly 11 years, then for an HMO in Hawaii for 6 years, and for the nearly last 3 years on Active Duty Military Bases first in Montana and now in Colorado. Currently, I am licensed in Colorado, Hawaii, and Montana and call Colorado home. As a Psychologist, I believe in creating an environment where a person's story can be really heard in order to better help them accomplish their own goals. I view therapy and assessment as a collaborative process where I utilize my skills to best help my clients. My practice is also based in principles of mindfulness and lovingkindness meditative practices to help individuals cultivate not only awareness, but also more self compassion. I am excited to help you on your own journey of self acceptance and growth.
Working with autistic and neurodivergent adults is a career area that I came to later in life. I found these areas of interest, as I learned more about myself and others, including those I love, that have too often been overlooked and mislabeled, despite their gifts. Having a better sense of one's own gifts and differences can be very helpful in the path to self-acceptance. For that reason, I am excited to help others better understand themselves with compassion and love.
Viktor Frankl is one of my favorite Psychologists of all time because he emphasized resilience and meaning making within the worst of hardships. I believe more than anything in the resilience and adaptability of humans as a driving force. With this strong conviction, I fuel my understanding of humanity and their gifts and hope to foster this understanding within those I work with. Importantly, that despite the worst of hardships, we can tap into our resilience with compassion to find a meaningful path, even when the world is crumbling.
