About
Hi there, I’m Dr. Toni Forbes Berg. I’m a Licensed Psychologist in Georgia, Washington, and Oregon, with PSYPACT authorization to work with clients in 43 states. If you’re considering an autism assessment as an adult, you may have spent years masking, second-guessing yourself, or feeling misunderstood by providers or systems that didn’t quite fit you. Many of the people I work with are high-masking professionals, women, and parents who were overlooked or misdiagnosed earlier in life, and are now seeking clarity and self-understanding. My approach to assessment is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in strong clinical standards, while also honoring your lived experience. I aim to make the process clear, affirming, and human, not intimidating or overly clinical. My goal is for you to feel understood, respected, and supported every step of the way.
My decision to specialize in working with autistic and neurodivergent adults comes from a deep respect for neurodiversity and a belief that differences in thinking, sensing, and relating are meaningful variations of human experience, not deficits to be fixed. I am especially drawn to working with adults who have spent much of their lives adapting to environments that were not designed with them in mind. Many people seeking assessment have learned to mask, overwork, or internalize self-criticism in order to function, often without understanding why life has felt more exhausting or confusing than it seems for others. Helping individuals make sense of these experiences through an affirming and accurate assessment process is deeply meaningful to me.My goal is to support clients in developing clarity, self-understanding, and self-respect. I want people to leave the assessment process feeling validated, better able to advocate for themselves, and more at ease with who they are, not defined by a label, but informed and empowered by it.
I bring an affirming and strengths-based approach by taking the time to understand you as a whole person, not just a set of traits or test results. I focus on how you think, adapt, problem-solve, and navigate the world, and I view these patterns as sources of insight and strength rather than something that needs to be corrected. Throughout the assessment process, I prioritize collaboration, transparency, and respect. I explain what we are doing and why, invite questions, and ensure that your experiences and perspectives are central to the process. I am especially attentive to strengths that may have been overlooked, such as creativity, persistence, deep focus, or strong values, particularly in individuals who have spent years masking or pushing themselves to meet external expectations. My goal is for you to leave the assessment with a clearer understanding of yourself, greater self-compassion, and language that helps you advocate for your needs in work, relationships, and daily life. The assessment is not about defining limitations, but about recognizing patterns, honoring your strengths, and supporting you in moving forward with clarity and confidence.
