About

Hello and thank you for considering working with me! I'm a licensed clinical psychologist in Silver Spring, MD. My professional background includes extensive experience with psychological testing and a clinical focus on the intersection of identities and cultural context. I believe that my role as an assessor is to respond to whatever question you have or problem you're experiencing with compassion, knowledge, clarity, and humility. A good psychological assessment is holistic, integrating your unique experience with best practices/information from the field and interpreting all of that in the context of where you live, work, and play. I very much hope to begin this journey with you soon!

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I chose to work with neurodivergent adults because I have loved ones, both adults and children, on the autism spectrum and seen firsthand the benefit of individuals being able to access psychological services when they're struggling or just confused about their experience. Every person has strengths to build upon and weaknesses/difficulties that we have to live with or resolve - normalizing these very human qualities to reduce shame and enhance the ability to build upon strengths is possibly my favorite thing about working with clients. For neurodivergent adults, after years of masking and hearing conflicting opinions about what neurodivergence is and isn't, there can be unique challenges with self-acceptance and awareness of strengths.  I believe that a big part of my job is to work with you toward those ends so that you can confidently embrace a life of meaning and purpose.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I approach every client with the idea that a diagnosis is a useful tool, whether it's to access services or for your own personal insight, not an indicator of a problem.  Every single thing psychologists diagnose exists on a spectrum with some sort of "average" experience and no one is average in every way.  To me, the best psychological testing experience ends with you having more clarity about how you process the world and to feel pride in BOTH the similarities and differences from others. Applying this information to the people, places, and things you care about so that you can fully engage with your unique life in a meaningful and fulfilling way is our task together.
