Tierra Parris
About
Hello and welcome! I’m Tierra Parris, a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland and Virginia with over 10 years of experience supporting adults through mental health challenges, life transitions, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and identity development. I specialize in working with women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ clients, and neurodivergent adults navigating ADHD, late diagnosis, anxiety, and the transition into adulthood. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to better understand yourself.
I chose this work because I know how powerful it can be when someone finally feels understood. Many clients come to therapy feeling burned out, misunderstood, or exhausted from trying to “hold it all together.” I’m passionate about helping clients reduce shame, find language for their experiences, and build tools that support their healing, confidence, and daily life.
My approach is affirming, direct, supportive, and strengths-based. I use psychoeducation, CBT-based tools, mindfulness, emotional regulation skills, and practical coping strategies to help clients better understand their patterns and feel more grounded. I also value creative forms of healing, including music and dance, and believe they can provide powerful therapeutic relief, emotional expression, nervous system regulation, and deeper self-connection.
Together, we focus on building self-awareness, self-trust, and realistic tools that support lasting change. I like to think outside the box and gently challenge clients to stretch beyond old patterns, while making sure they feel supported, empowered, and respected throughout the process.
