About
Hello! Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I’m honored you’re here. My name is Thomas Alegria, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients across a variety of clinical settings. These experiences have allowed me to work with individuals from many different walks of life and have strengthened my passion for helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and practical support.
My approach to counseling is rooted in a humanistic, person-centered philosophy. I believe every client deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. I incorporate evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients build insight, develop healthy coping skills, and create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.
My goal is not only to help clients reach their mental health goals, but also to empower them with the tools, confidence, and self-awareness needed to continue thriving long after counseling ends. I value building authentic therapeutic relationships and believe that healing and growth happen best through collaboration, empathy, and trust. Whether you are facing anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply seeking personal growth, I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward greater well-being.
My motivation for wanting to work with autistic and neurodivergent adults comes from a deep respect for this population and the belief that they are often overlooked and underserved. I believe every individual deserves to feel understood, valued, and supported in a way that honors their unique experiences, strengths, and perspectives.
My goal is to create a safe, welcoming counseling environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves while building the skills, confidence, and coping strategies needed to thrive in their daily lives and relationships. I strive to meet each person where they are, work collaboratively through challenges, and empower clients to recognize and build upon their strengths in meaningful and lasting ways.
I bring an affirming, strengths-based approach to counseling by focusing on each client’s unique abilities, resilience, and perspective rather than solely on their challenges. I believe every individual already has strengths that can be built upon to support growth, healing, and meaningful change.
I create a safe, supportive, and person-centered space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to be themselves. Using a collaborative approach and evidence-based methods, I help clients strengthen coping skills, increase self-awareness, and develop practical tools to support their goals and overall well-being.
