Teral Williams
About
Hello, my name is Teral. I am a licensed mental health counselor with 12 years of experience helping people through some of life's most challenging moments. While I am a professional in my field, I recognize that you are the expert on you. My desire is to work with you to develop and meet your goals by first actively building the level of trust through active listening, unconditional positive regard, in a compassionate, supportive, and safe space. I am here to genuinely as well as strategically provide you with hope and a way to move forward, when you may feel stuck. Especially, during those times when you are feeling lost, with no answers, or life seems more than you can handle. I am here for you. I am here to help you process feelings of anger, hurt, frustration, loneliness, insecurity, disappointment, shame or sadness. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges. I also have experience in Child Welfare working with children as well as adults with a history of physical trauma or emotional abuse (foster care, adoption). Even as an adult I have experienced personal trauma and understand that everyone responds differently and needs an individual approach to your healing journey.
What sets me apart?
Simply because, I love what I do. Being a therapist is much more than a career choice for me. It reflects a core part of who I am and my genuine desire to understand people on a deeper level, without judgment. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from many different backgrounds, experiences, and ways of thinking. Through those experiences, I developed a deep appreciation and respect for the strengths, insights, and perspectives that neurodivergent individuals bring.
My motivation to working with autistic and neurodivergent clients is the opportunity to create a space where people can feel understood, accepted, and valued for who they are, rather than feeling pressured to fit into someone else's expectations. I recognize that every person experiences life differently, and I believe those differences deserve to be respected and celebrated.
My goal is not to change who you are, but to support you as you navigate challenges, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and better understand yourself. I enjoy helping people identify what works best for them, advocate for their needs, and develop practical strategies that align with their strengths and goals. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they discover new possibilities, overcome obstacles, and build a life that feels authentic and meaningful to them.
My approach is rooted in compassion, acceptance, and the belief that every individual already possesses strengths that can serve as a foundation for growth. As a licensed mental health counselor with years of experience, I understand that while I bring professional knowledge and training, you are the expert on your own life and experiences.
I focus on creating a supportive environment built on trust, active listening, unconditional positive regard, and genuine curiosity about who you are as a person. Rather than focusing solely on difficulties or deficits, I work collaboratively with clients to recognize their existing abilities, resilience, interests, talents, and unique ways of navigating the world.
I believe that growth happens when people feel safe, understood, and empowered. I strive to help clients identify what is already working, build upon those strengths, and develop strategies that honor their individual needs and goals. Whether we are working through anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, self confidence, emotional regulation, or everyday stressors, I approach each person with respect for their unique experiences and perspective. My therapeutic style is warm, relaxed, and adaptable.
