About

Hi, I'm Dr. Teague Cowley — a licensed clinical psychologist based in Park City, Utah, and the founder of Steady Path Psychological Services. My work is rooted in a simple but deeply held belief: that the greatest victories in life often happen within. Seeking support takes courage, and I'm here to walk alongside you on that journey. My path to psychology has been anything but linear, and I think that's what makes me the kind of clinician I am today. Before entering the therapy room, I spent six years working with burn survivors, competed internationally as an adaptive alpine ski racer, advocated for people with disabilities through the National Ability Center, and even co-founded a post-production company in Santa Monica. Each chapter taught me something about resilience, human connection, and what it means to rebuild after life throws something unexpected your way.Professionally, I earned my Doctor of Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California — an APA-accredited program where I completed specialized training in Police and Public Safety Psychology. I went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, with intensive experience across inpatient psychiatry, residential care, and psychological evaluation. My work spans trauma recovery, psychological assessment, and integrative therapy approaches including CBT, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed care.I work with individuals and couples — preteens through adults — navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, life transitions, and more. I'm licensed in Utah and currently offer virtual sessions across more than 40 states.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My work with autistic and neurodivergent clients is grounded in a deep respect for neurodiversity and a genuine appreciation for what a diagnosis truly offers. Beyond a label, a clear diagnostic understanding can be profoundly liberating — it brings clarity to longstanding struggles, validates lived experiences, and opens pathways to self-compassion and meaningful support. I'm drawn to this work because I've witnessed how transformative the diagnostic process can be. When someone finally understands why they experience the world differently, it shifts everything. It allows them to build on their strengths from a place of acceptance rather than self-criticism, and to access tools and strategies that actually fit who they are. My role is to provide thorough, compassionate psychological evaluation and assessment, and then to walk alongside clients as they integrate that understanding into their lives. Together, we move toward a place of greater self-knowledge, acceptance, and the ability to thrive authentically.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My commitment to working with autistic and neurodivergent clients is deeply informed by my own lived experience navigating physical disability. Through adaptive sports, burn survivor advocacy, and years of disability awareness work, I've come to understand intimately what it means to experience the world differently — to face barriers, misconceptions, and the challenge of finding spaces where you truly belong. This lived experience has cultivated genuine compassion and insight into the experiences of marginalized communities and the profound impact of difference. When I work with neurodivergent clients, I bring not just clinical expertise, but a real understanding of what it takes to build a life where you feel accepted for who you are. My goal is to create that space — one where diagnosis brings clarity and self-understanding, where your differences are recognized as part of your strengths, and where you're supported in thriving authentically.
