About

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Tausha Watson, a licensed clinical psychologist based in North Carolina and authorized to provide telehealth services in participating PSYPACT states. With more than 18 years of experience in the mental health field, I am passionate about helping adults navigate life’s challenges with greater self-awareness, resilience, and self-compassion.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that meaningful healing happens when people feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, chronic stress, life transitions, or relationship challenges, I strive to create a supportive space where you can explore your experiences without judgment.

Drawing from evidence-based and holistic approaches, I tailor therapy to your unique needs, strengths, and goals. My hope is to help you better understand yourself, build effective coping skills, strengthen your connection with your mind and body, and create lasting, meaningful change. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth.

Education & Licensure
I earned a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology and a Master of Arts (MA) in Forensic Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, DC. I also earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Criminology from North Carolina State University.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals comes from a genuine appreciation for the many ways people experience, understand, and interact with the world. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals whose challenges were often misunderstood, overlooked, or viewed through a deficit-based lens. These experiences reinforced the importance of creating a space where people feel accepted, respected, and understood for who they are.

I am passionate about helping neurodivergent individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves, recognize their strengths, and navigate challenges in ways that honor their unique needs and experiences. I believe that many autistic adults have spent years masking, feeling different, or questioning why certain aspects of life seem more difficult for them. Receiving support, validation, and greater self-understanding can be incredibly empowering.

My goal is to provide compassionate, affirming care that recognizes both strengths and challenges while helping individuals build lives that feel authentic, meaningful, and aligned with who they truly are. I consider it a privilege to support clients as they explore their identities, advocate for their needs, and develop greater confidence in themselves.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

believe that every person has unique strengths, talents, and ways of experiencing the world that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. My approach is grounded in the belief that neurodiversity is a natural part of human variation, not something that needs to be "fixed." Rather than focusing primarily on deficits or limitations, I work to help individuals better understand themselves, identify their strengths, and build on the qualities that make them who they are.

I strive to create a warm, affirming environment where clients feel safe being their authentic selves. I listen with curiosity and respect, validate lived experiences, and recognize the resilience that many neurodivergent individuals have developed while navigating a world that is not always designed with their needs in mind. Together, we explore strengths, interests, values, and personal goals while identifying practical strategies that support success, well-being, and self-acceptance.

As a psychologist with extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and emotional well-being, I understand the importance of seeing the whole person rather than defining them by a diagnosis. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-understanding, self-confidence, and self-compassion so they can thrive in ways that feel meaningful and authentic to them. I am committed to providing care that is respectful, collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming, and tailored to each individual's unique strengths and needs.
