About

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Dr. Suzannia Holden, and I am a licensed psychologist in California with more than 14 years of clinical experience working with adults in university counseling and specialized rehabilitation settings.

‍

A central part of my work has always been helping people better understand themselves and the world around them. My interest in how people think and process information led me to neuropsychological testing and research on disability identity development. I've also worked with individuals navigating adjustment difficulties, the psychological impact of disability, and significant life transitions. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of seeing the whole person, not simply their diagnosis or challenges.

‍

Learning more about how your brain works can shed light on things that may have felt confusing or difficult to put into words. My hope is that you leave our time together with more than answers, but a greater understanding of yourself, your strengths, and your individual needs

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I consider it a privilege to provide a space where autistic and neurodivergent adults can explore what works for them as individuals, without feeling pressured to change who they are to meet outside expectations. I find it empowering when people gain insight into how they process information and experience the world around them. Having that insight can help you put things into perspective, recognize why certain things may be more challenging than others, and discover ways to work with your circumstances rather than constantly fight against them.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I approach assessment as a collaborative process. Testing and questionnaires provide valuable information, but they are only part of the picture. I also want to learn about your experiences, what you enjoy, what comes naturally to you, what may require more effort, and the questions that brought you to assessment.

‍

I believe it's important to look beyond areas of difficulty and recognize the strengths and capabilities that are equally part of who you are. My goal is to bring those pieces together in a way that feels meaningful and relevant to your everyday life, while identifying resources, tools, or adjustments that may help you navigate things in ways that work for you.
