About
Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Susan Longley, a clinical psychologist who is licensed in Illinois, New York, and Texas. I support indviduals to help them better understand their strengths, challenges, and the ways they navigate daily life. I know that life can be complicated and that everyone experiences the world differently. My approach is grounded in respect and understanding, and I aim to provide guidance that is practical, clear, and supportive. My priori is you and together, we can make sense of your experiences, highlight your strengths, and find strategies that enhance your well-being.
My motivation for working with autistic and neurodivergent adults comes from years of teaching in colleges and universities, where I saw how neurodiverse students can struggle within those systems. I provide psychological assessments for individuals who have been misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or labeled in ways that do not reflect their ways of experiencing the world. My evaluations are thoughtful, careful, and grounded in respect for neurodivergent perspectives. I aim to offer clear, accurate understanding and practical guidance that helps individuals make sense of their experiences and strengths.
I take a strengths-based, affirming approach by focusing on each person’s unique way of experiencing the world and the talents, skills, and perspectives they already bring. In assessments, I highlight both areas of challenge and areas of strength, in a way that is clear, validating, and respectful. My goal is to help you make sense of your experiences, recognize your strengths, and build on them in ways that feel meaningful and practical for your life.
