About

Hello and welcome to Prosper Health! My name is Dr. Steven Zuniga and I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas.  I am also certified to work with individuals in 40+ states outside of Texas that are part of PSYPACT.  Over my career, I have provided mental health services to adults of all ages in various settings including university counseling centers, VA clinical settings, and group practice.  I have extensive experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community, members of underrepresented communities, and those with intersecting identities.  It is a strong passion of mine to support, advocate for, and uplift members of these communities when providing mental health services.  As a psychologist, it is my job to celebrate your decision to begin this journey of self-discovery and encourage you to engage in this process.

Education & Licensure
PhD in Counseling Psychology from Oklahoma State University; Masters in Educational Psychology from Oklahoma State University; Masters in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio; Bachelors in Psychology from Texas A&M University
Treatment Approach

I was drawn to specialize in mental health care for the neurodivergent community because of my personal experiences in life interacting with members of my family and friend group whom are also part of the community. Additionally, I have been fortunate enough to also work with previous clients who have identified as neurodivergent.  These experiences have had a profound impact on me during my life / career and encouraged me to seek more opportunities to serve this community.

In therapy/assessment, I aim to achieve a warm, supportive, and encouraging environment, so that you will feel safe and able to fully explore your identity.   I operate from an integrative perspective, which means that I pull from a number of different therapeutic modalities to better serve my clients and their presenting concerns.  Primarily, I utilize a person-centered framework to develop rapport, provide unconditional positive regard (non-judgment) and authenticity for my clients so that a strong framework/foundation is created. As a psychologist with intersecting identities, I believe it is imperative for me to approach psychology from a multicultural perspective.  Each person that I meet with possesses their own unique identities, values, and beliefs that they bring to the therapeutic relationship.  I have found that recognizing and embracing these differences within therapy/assessment can be quite powerful and affirming for clients.  Furthermore, I strive to learn from my clients, as I view them as the experts of their own lives and experiences. My hope is to help you feel empowered on your journey of self-discovery and help you gain insight regarding the strength you possess to achieve your goals. It is my honor to assist in your journey to learn more about yourself!
