Intro
My name is Stephen Lange. I am a father, grandfather, and psychologist. I am neurodivergent and have ADHD. One of my goals is to extend services to people who do not have opportunities for mental health evaluations and treatment. I am based in Texas but am able to practice in a number of different states based on an interstate compact called Psypact. I welcome questions and discussion, and want to both teach and learn.
As a child, no one understood what ADHD was. In fact, it was not a recognized disorder until after I had graduated high school. I knew I had a problem, that it was a brain problem, but the adults did not seem to have insight or answers. I decided that I would do what I could to listen and learn from my neurodivergent clients, patients and students, and to provide the best possible answers.
I believe that the art of psychology is listening, understanding, and using the wisdom of clients, patients and students to help them understand themselves and their experiences. These experiences include not only frustrations and disappointments, but strengths and abilities.
