Intro

My name is Stephanie and I am a licensed mental health counselor and licensed professional counselor in the states of Florida, Virginia, and Connecticut. I identify as neurodivergent and love working with Prosper Health's clients.I am a facilitator for the Batterer’s Intervention Program for domestic violence, trained in treating juvenile sex offenders with the Department of Juvenile Justice, human trafficking, women’s empowerment, parenting, and issues including depression, anxiety, and anger management.I completed my Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education and my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.  I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, strength based, person centered, solution focused, and an eclectic approach with my clients to meet each of my clients’ individual needs.  My warm and caring approach allows my clients to feel safe as I walk beside you throughout your counseling journey.

What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I started working with the autistic community as an exceptional student educator and behavior specialist (K-12) during my first career.  I enjoyed working with the families and children so much, I decided to further my education and attend graduate school to earn my masters degree in mental health counseling.  I continued to work with autistic children and their families, as well as working with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities and then joining the Prosper family. As a neurodivergent individual with neurodivergent family members, I am able to understand and work with my clients on a sincere and genuine level.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I believe it is vital to help my clients understand that what they may believe are to be problems or weaknesses, may actually be strengths. Using an affirming approach, my clients feel safe and comfortable that allow them to be themselves and learn how to be their most genuine and authentic selves.
