About
Hi, I'm Steph Brass, a LISW living in Kent, Ohio and practicing virtually across the state. My path to this work is a personal one — I was diagnosed with ADHD later in life after advocating and arguing with many professionals, and that experience reshaped how I understand both struggle and growth. I know what it's like to build a life that works with your brain instead of against it, and I bring that lived understanding into every session.
I chose this path because I spent years without the language to explain why things that seemed to come easily to others felt like an uphill climb for me. When I finally got my diagnosis, it wasn't just relief — it was grief, too, for all the years I spent thinking something was wrong with me instead of understanding how I was wired. I don't want other neurodivergent folks to wait as long as I did to feel that relief. I became a therapist so I could sit across from people in that same place of confusion or self-blame and say: there's nothing broken here — let's figure out how you actually work.
My approach is rooted in what's working, not just what's hard. Neurodivergent clients often come into therapy already fluent in their own deficits — years of feedback will do that. So instead of starting with "what's wrong," I start with "what's already here": your creativity, your intensity, your pattern-recognition, your honesty, the coping strategies you've built without anyone teaching you. We use those as the foundation, not an afterthought. Using CBT adapted for ADHD and somatic work, alongside a direct, low-masking communication style and a sensory-aware space, my goal is to help you build on what already works in you — so therapy feels like expansion, not correction.
