Hello there! I’m Dr. Johnson, but you can call me SJ. I am a neurodivergent psychologist licensed in the sunny state of Florida. My focus is to provide diagnostic assessments for adults who are curious if they might be neurodivergent. What matters most to me during the assessment process is creating a space where nothing about you feels “too much” or “too confusing” to share. As a clinician, I approach assessment with curiosity rather than assumptions, and I pay close attention to the strengths that have carried you through your life so far. My goal is for you to feel seen, to offer you language that fits, and provide recommendations that we can work easily into your life.
One year after finishing our degrees, a close friend and colleague discovered she was neurodivergent. We went through the same program and I watched her work twice as hard as everyone around her, not realizing that her struggles weren’t personal failings, but signs of a brain that worked differently. When she finally received her diagnosis, the validation she felt was incredible to see. It was like she finally had permission to see herself through a kinder, more accurate lens.Seeing her journey is what inspired my “why.” I want adults who have felt misunderstood or overlooked for years to have that same moment of feeling truly seen by a provider.
I view my work as a clinician through a strengths-based, person-centered lens, meaning that I pay close attention to areas where you have adapted and succeeded (even when you didn’t feel like it). Together, we can use these strengths as a foundation while we identify and tackle areas of your life that are more challenging.
