About
Hello, and welcome! I'm Shawna, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTS) living in Arizona. I earned my Master of Social Work from Arizona State University in 2012 and have spent more than 20 years working in the mental health field. I am licensed to provide therapy in Arizona and am passionate about helping individuals overcome life's challenges and discover their own strength and resilience.
I believe that everyone deserves a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where they can feel heard, supported, and understood. My passion for therapy comes from seeing the incredible growth that can happen when people feel empowered to work through difficult experiences and create meaningful change in their lives. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck, I am committed to walking alongside you with empathy, encouragement, and practical tools to help you reach your goals.
Seeking therapy is a courageous first step, and I consider it a privilege to be part of each client's journey toward healing, hope, and lasting well-being.
I became a therapist because I've always been passionate about helping people feel understood, supported, and empowered to overcome life's challenges. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with individuals from many different backgrounds, and I've seen firsthand how meaningful change can happen when people are given a safe, accepting space to be themselves.
I'm especially drawn to working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals because I believe everyone deserves care that recognizes and respects their unique way of experiencing the world. Rather than focusing on "fixing" who someone is, my goal is to understand each person's strengths, challenges, and individual needs. I enjoy helping clients build confidence, develop practical coping strategies, navigate relationships, manage anxiety and stress, and advocate for themselves in ways that align with their values.
What I find most rewarding is building authentic relationships with my clients and celebrating their progress, no matter how big or small. I strive to create an environment where clients feel accepted, heard, and empowered to grow while embracing who they are.
I believe that every person has unique strengths, abilities, and perspectives that deserve to be recognized and celebrated. My role as a therapist is not to change who you are, but to help you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and develop the skills and confidence to navigate life's challenges in ways that work for you.
I take a compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to therapy, tailoring each session to your individual goals and needs. Together, we'll identify what is already working, explore opportunities for growth, and develop practical strategies that support your emotional well-being, relationships, and daily life. I strive to create a space where you feel accepted, respected, and empowered to be your authentic self.
Whether you're seeking support with anxiety, emotional regulation, communication, life transitions, or self-advocacy, my goal is to help you recognize your potential, build resilience, and create a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling—on your own terms.
