About

Hello and welcome! My name is Sarie McGlone, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Maryland. I've spent the last several years working with adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, and the process of figuring out who they are outside of other people's expectations. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real conversation, not a performance, so I bring warmth, honesty, and a genuine investment in your progress to every session. My goal is to help you build a life that actually fits you.

Education & Licensure
M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology; B.A. in Psychology, University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC)
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in working with autistic adults started early in my career, when I worked directly with autistic young adults on independent living and social skills, and it deepened through my own clinical work and relationships with neurodivergent people in my life. This work is also personal to me as a neurodivergent person myself, which shapes how I show up in the room. I saw firsthand how much of the struggle wasn't really about being autistic, but about spending years being told to mask it or fix it. I wanted to be a different kind of provider, one who starts from the assumption that your brain works the way it's supposed to work, and helps you build skills and systems that support that instead of fighting it.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I focus on what's already working before I focus on what isn't. Every client I see has strengths and coping strategies they've built themselves, often without anyone naming them as such, and my job is to help you see those clearly and build on them. My approach is affirming at its core: I don't see autism or neurodivergence as something to correct, I see it as part of how you're wired, and I work with that instead of against it. I also take a solution-focused approach, so we're not just going to process what you're feeling, we're going to build a real plan to get you moving. I don't want you sitting across from a therapist for a year still dealing with the same exact issue. I'm direct because I think you deserve honesty, not just validation, but I'm also encouraging because change is hard and you shouldn't have to do it alone. My job is to help you get to the deeper root cause so you can move from survival mode into actually thriving in the life you want to live.
