About
Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Sarah Allen, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Virginia. I’m passionate about helping people better understand themselves and the unique ways their minds work. Many of the individuals I work with have spent years feeling different, misunderstood, or unsure why certain aspects of life—like communication, relationships, sensory experiences, or emotional regulation—can feel more complicated. My goal is to create a supportive, respectful space where you can explore your experiences without judgment. I believe that understanding how your brain works can be empowering. I work collaboratively with clients to build insight, develop practical tools, and recognize strengths that may have gone unnoticed. Everyone’s path is different, and I’m committed to providing thoughtful, individualized, and affirming care.
My interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals comes from a deep respect for neurodiversity and the many different ways people experience and interact with the world. I have worked with many individuals who spent years feeling misunderstood or wondering why certain things seemed harder for them than for others. Helping people gain clarity, language, and self-understanding around those experiences can be incredibly empowering.I’m inspired by the strengths, insight, and resilience within the neurodivergent community. My goal is to provide a supportive space where clients can better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and develop tools that make daily life feel more manageable and authentic.
I take an affirming, strengths-based approach that focuses on understanding and building upon each person’s unique abilities. Rather than viewing differences as problems to fix, I see them as important parts of who someone is. My goal is to help clients recognize their strengths, gain insight into how their mind works, and develop strategies that support their daily life.I work collaboratively with clients, listening closely to their experiences and validating what they’ve gone through. Creating a space where people feel respected, understood, and safe to be themselves is central to my work. From there, we can focus on practical tools and personal growth in a way that feels authentic and empowering.
