About
Introduction: Hello! My name is Sara Salib. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist living in the State of Pennsylvania. My passion for my work stems from a deep and sincere desire to genuinely help others to overcome personal difficulties and enjoy life to the fullest. As a clinician, I aim to be humble, to listen well, and, to the best that I can, understand the full story of the person I am working with. It is important to me that my clients experience a safe environment where they feel free to be themselves. My goal is to help each person that I am working with to value themes selves for who they and to help them on their life journey, wherever that might lead.
My Why: My motivation for working with autistic adults stems from my 25+ years working with clients who are autistic and neurodivergent. This has included experience with children as young as toddlers, school-aged children, adolescents, adults and older adults on the spectrum. Over the course of these years, I have witnessed people on the autism spectrum demonstrate resilience and perseverance through all these stages of life. Sometimes this means being in environments that are not always well built for them or navigating social situations in which they are sometimes misunderstood. Nevertheless, they continue to persevere, self-advocate, find inner strength and overcome various challenges. I also appreciate their radical authenticity and learning from the unique ways they process the world.
My How: My approach to working with clients is to create an environment that is neuro-affirming and focused on personal strengths. As a neuro-affirming therapist, I see neurodivergence as a natural variation in human functioning. I am a firm believer that being ‘different’ is not a deficit but a vital part of human experience. Taking a strength-based approach means focusing on a person’s unique strengths, their personal values, and their unique passions. Helping a client identify and value these aspects of who they are is vital step towards helping a person to find meaningful purpose and build a secure sense of identity.
