About

Hi and welcome! My name is Sal Gutierrez, and I am a licensed psychologist in California. I am pleased to be part of Prosper Health, where I provide psychological evaluations.I understand that starting an evaluation can sometimes feel unfamiliar, stressful, or even intimidating. My goal is to make the assessment process feel as comfortable, respectful, and understandable as possible for you. I want you to feel welcomed, heard, and treated with dignity from the beginning of the process to the end. When we meet, I will take time to learn about your strengths, challenges, history, and current needs. I am not here to judge you. I am here to better understand how you think, learn, communicate, and experience the world so that the evaluation can provide meaningful information and helpful recommendations.I also want you to know that questions are welcome. I will do my best to explain the process clearly and create a calm, supportive space where the evaluation feels manageable and nonthreatening. My hope is that you leave the process feeling respected, understood, and supported.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My motivation for working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals comes from my belief that every person deserves to be understood in a fair, respectful, and compassionate way. I have always been an advocate for individuals who face challenges, including people with different disabilities, learning differences, communication differences, and emotional needs. I know that many autistic individuals have had experiences where they felt misunderstood, dismissed, or judged, and I want the evaluation process to feel different. My goal is to provide assessments that help identify your strengths, clarify your needs, and support a better understanding of who you are.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach is affirming, respectful, and strengths-based. I do not see an evaluation as simply a way to identify problems. I see it as an opportunity to better understand who you are, how you experience the world, what strengths you bring, and what supports may help you thrive. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work to make the assessment process feel as comfortable and understandable as possible. My goal is for you to feel respected throughout the process and to leave with information that is useful, validating, and grounded in your individual experience.
