Hello! My name is Dr. Sage Bates and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois. I approach the assessment process with compassionate curiosity, and strive to create an environment that feels warm, supportive, and empowering. I believe that you are the expert of your own lived experiences, and value taking the time to understand you as a whole person, including your strengths, culture, and values, and goals.
I believe that diversity and uniqueness are things to be celebrated! Increasing access to mental health support for underserved populations is also a core value of mine as a psychologist. These values contribute to my motivation and interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent adults. It is important to me to help clients feel supported in gaining clarification and deeper self-understanding.
I am committed to understanding how an individual’s strengths, culture, interests, and life experiences help shape who they are. Rather than viewing differences as deficits that must be fixed, I aim to understand how an individual can utilize their strengths and uniqueness to live life in alignment with their values. My goal is to help clients feel heard, while identifying recommendations and supports that respect their individual needs and goals.
