About

Thank you for visiting my page! My name is Sabrina, and I am a counseling psychologist based in Austin, Texas. Taking the first step toward learning more about yourself can feel like a big decision, and I'm glad you're here. In addition to being licensed as a psychologist in Texas, I am PSYPACT-authorized to provide telehealth services to individuals in all participating states. My training and clinical experience span community mental health, residential substance use treatment, university counseling, and private practice, where I have developed a specialty area in providing assessments for adults and have supported adults on the autism spectrum across each setting.

I did not originally expect to specialize in assessment; however, over time, I came to see assessment as an opportunity to blend clinical expertise with compassion, flexibility, and a deep appreciation for each individual’s unique story. Assessment can be much more than determining whether someone meets criteria for a diagnosis—it's an opportunity to better understand how you experience the world, relate to others, and make sense of both your strengths and the challenges you may have faced. My hope is that, through working together, you leave the assessment process feeling seen and understood, with greater clarity to help you move forward with confidence.

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Growing up alongside my brother, who is on the autism spectrum, sparked my curiosity about the fascinating and wonderful ways our brains can be uniquely wired to interpret and experience the world around us. As he gained greater understanding, support, and opportunities to apply his skillsets, my hope has been to offer that same sense of understanding and support to others.

I believe that understanding how our brains work can help us make sense of past experiences, foster greater self-compassion, and empower us to live in ways that feel more authentic to who we are. While I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on the autism spectrum, I find it especially meaningful to partner with adults seeking autism assessment. Many adults come to this process carrying questions for years, and it is a privilege to support someone in understanding themselves more deeply.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

Throughout the assessment process, I prioritize cultural humility, your autonomy, and transparency. Central to my approach is honoring the many identities, lived experiences, and perspectives each person brings, including cultural values and beliefs about assessment, family of origin experiences, access to support across the lifespan, and facets of identity that are integral to each person's story and lived experience, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and other meaningful aspects of who we are. These experiences shape how we understand ourselves, navigate our environments, and how traits associated with autism may be expressed, recognized, and interpreted.

I strive to demystify the assessment experience from the very beginning so you feel informed and supported every step of the way. This includes providing clarity about what to expect during our initial meeting, openly addressing questions or concerns, and creating space for collaboration throughout the evaluation. My goal is for each person I work with to feel respected, understood, and empowered from start to finish.
