About

Hi, I’m Dr. Ruhee Sutar, a licensed psychologist currently based in Minnesota. I provide adult autism evaluations, and one of the things I value most about this work is getting to know you and helping you make sense of experiences that may have been difficult to explain.

‍

I approach those questions from a developmental perspective, drawing on my training and experience in intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. That means looking at patterns across your life, how you’ve adapted, and what life is like for you now.

‍

You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly how to explain your experiences. I’ll help guide the conversation, make room for your questions, and explain the findings in plain language.

‍

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my dog, Pluto, spending time with family and friends, and experimenting in the kitchen.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My work with neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults has shown me how much it matters to understand someone’s needs and have the right support. When difficulties are overlooked or misunderstood, people can spend years blaming themselves or trying to manage without the help they need. As a woman diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood myself, I also appreciate the personal significance that getting answers later in life can have.

‍

I’m drawn to adult assessment because a clearer understanding can change how you view past experiences and help you make informed decisions about support. Together, we’ll explore whether autism helps explain your experiences and consider other possible explanations, with room for whatever feelings or questions come up.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I ask about your interests, relationships, strengths, and the ways you’ve learned to navigate daily life. I want to understand what helps you, what takes effort, and where you’d like more support.

‍

I consider your developmental history and current experiences alongside your culture, identity, and the expectations around you. I’ll explain how I reached my conclusions and talk through recommendations with you so they build on your strengths, address your needs, and are realistic for your daily life.
