About
Hello! I am Dr. Robert Boxley and have been a licensed Clinical Psychologist for over 25 years. During that time, I have been actively diagnosing and treating people with a variety of challenges (including autism and ADHD). I believe that having a clear understanding of how each of us interacts with the world makes overcoming our challenges easier. A comprehensive assessment gives one clarity and the power to tackle the inevitable difficulties that life sends our way. I want to be part of that process, by giving you a well-reasoned, quality assessment. I believe that allowing ourselves to be human (in all its varied forms) and accepting ourselves as human (in all its varied forms) is critical to living a healthy life and resolving many psychological issues. To be a part of that process, I hope to provide clarity where there may have been confusion, and to do so in an open, accepting and respectful manner.
I have always worked with those who have been marginalized or misunderstood by the larger society. This comes from a deep belief that there are many ways to be successful in the world and that it is unjust to force all of us into only one “right way”. I believe that “different” or “unique” should be celebrated rather than disregarded. My work with those with autism, ADHD and other issues reflect that belief. My work with LGBTQ+ and other challenged communities is also reflective of that belief. The courage and resilience that I have witnessed is inspiring and I am honored to be a part of the process.
I believe that everyone has things they do well, things that they don’t and things they can do better (if they want to). It is sometimes easy to identify our shortcomings, so I believe that some extra effort must be made for us to own the things we do well. And sometimes when we want to change or do something better, it helps to have that effort validated, encouraged, and nurtured. I commit to helping in that mission and to be a creative partner in problem-solving each person’s unique way to be successful in the world.
