Hello and welcome! As a psychologist evaluator, my aim is to partner with clients to get the answers they seek in a safe atmosphere. My goal is for them to feel supported and understood as together we assess their "symptoms" or unique aspects to their personalities and lives.
My motivation for assessing adults for autism stems from working with individual and couples therapy clients over the past 25 years in medical settings and private practice. In that role, with increased frequency over recent years, I have seen individuals and spouses have questions about potential neurodiversity of themselves or their loved one. While I was limited to screening and referral of clients in those settings, I could see a positive difference was made by bringing the topic into the dialogue. I could also see that a clear diagnosis was helpful in regard to affirming life experiences, understanding communication and relational expectations and needs, and other parameters.
My goal is to affirm clients while understanding their unique strengths and challenges to get an accurate representation of where they may fall on the neurotyical to neurodiverse spectrum. I prioritize giving easy to understand feedback. I want clients to leave the evaluation process with more clarity than they arrived.
