About

Good Morning/Afternoon — I’m Rachel "Louise" Clausen, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor based just outside Louisville, Kentucky. I’m currently pursuing licensure in Indiana and Florida (still working through that red tape), and I bring a warm, practical approach to therapy.

‍

In sessions I offer a gentle structure so you’ll always know what to expect, combined with the flexibility to pivot when something urgent or important comes up. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can bring absolutely anything to the table — and we’ll talk it through together.

Education & Licensure
MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois; MA in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana; BA, Major in Art, Minors in Psychology and Sociology, Kentucky Wesleyan College
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

Many people’s brains don’t work the same way as the cultural “mainstream,” and that difference can make everyday life — relationships, work, sensory experiences, and routine changes — feel confusing or exhausting. That’s why I believe it’s essential to have a therapeutic space where you don’t have to mask, perform, or try to be “like everyone else.” In my practice I validate neurodivergent ways of thinking and feeling rather than pathologize them, and I create a nonjudgmental environment where you can drop the mask and be your true self. I honor your unique strengths, preferences, and needs while also supporting the skills and strategies that help you thrive, and I collaborate with you to explore goals, challenges, and adaptations that fit your life — not someone else’s ideal. My aim is to empower you to grow from a place of authenticity so progress feels sustainable and respectful of who you are. Put simply: therapy should help you live more comfortably and confidently as yourself — not teach you to hide who you are.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

We all tend to fixate on mistakes, barriers, and failures — and while things often happen and we move on, sometimes those difficult moments sit and simmer in our minds. I like to acknowledge the problem and validate your feelings, then deliberately shift focus to your strengths and talents so we can build a practical plan for the areas where you want to grow and get stronger.
