About

Hello, I'm so glad you're here! My name is Rachel Leonard. I have lived in Ohio for the past 11 years, and I recently moved to Kentucky, so I'm licensed in both states. As a therapist, I am relational, safe, and genuinely interested in your story. I ask real questions and stay present with the hard parts. You are in the driver's seat of your care. We’ll start by understanding your journey, then build practical tools: managing big emotions, untangling stuck relationship patterns, and working with challenges instead of against them.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

As a neurodivergent adult, I am familiar with exhaustion that often comes from not feeling understood. I am passionate about validating your experience as a neurodivergent adult and supporting you in discovering your strengths and reframing your story. Neurodivergent adults have often developed inspiring adaptations and skills that help them thrive in a neurotypical world, and I enjoy encouraging them to see themselves through a more integrated lens, making space for both strengths/adaptations and challenges/areas for growth. My goal is to help my clients build more meaningful lives, relationships & careers and develop skills to thrive as the best version of themselves.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I begin with compassionate curiosity, taking time to understand your identity, lived experiences, and the strengths that have helped you navigate the world. Together, we recognize the creativity, persistence, and resourcefulness within your ways of coping and adapting, while making room to explore who you are beyond others’ expectations.

‍

My approach is collaborative, affirming, and grounded in clinical understanding of how thoughts, emotions, relationships, and environments shape well-being. For neurodivergent adults, developing a sense of identity can involve making meaning of past experiences, exploring masking and belonging, and learning to trust your own needs. That exploration may also include faith or spirituality—whether a source of comfort, complexity, or questions—with room for any belief or none. Your values and preferences guide our work as we build on your interests, abilities, and existing supports to strengthen self-understanding and self-advocacy.
