About

Welcome, My name is Rachel Kaufman. I live and am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in New York. I began my career working with neurodivergent adults providing both individual and group therapy. I utilize a psychodynamic and client-centered approach to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship in a safe, non-judgmental setting.

Education & Licensure
Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University Bachelor’s in Psychology from University of Delaware
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My approach is rooted in compassion, respect and curiosity. I recognize many clients have spent years feeling misunderstood and judged. During our sessions, I address each individual’s needs and preferences with a focus on socialization, coping skills, interpersonal conflicts and independent living. Together, we work toward developing strategies to cope with emotional distress, change behavior and managing independent living skills in a validating and therapeutic environment.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

Through collaboration and curiosity, I help clients manage challenges such as sensory sensitivity, social communication differences, emotional regulation and executive functioning issues.  Interventions are tailored to the client’s personal needs that allows for adaptive strategies to navigate relationships, work and life situations.
