About
Welcome, and thank you for considering me as the partner to tell your story! As a professional listener with 30+ years of experience, I know the importance of collaboration for an accurate understanding of you. Through our shared time together, we’ll engage in conversations of discovery to get to know you and explore what you’ve been through. I live in Pennsylvania, licensed since 1995 and I view evaluation as a conversation. Conversations heal when you share how you feel; when you share how you feel, you strengthen and heal. Conversations connect us, help us grow, and remind us of our shared heritage while celebrating our unique differences. I strive to convey your essence in a clear and sensible way, one that puts you in the center of the story with clarity and kindness as guiding principles. I may share a rhyme that may resonate with you and help you along the journey, such as: Treat everyone special and they will go far; show them respect, understand who they are. I’ve worked and travelled in over 34 countries, speak several languages, and value all cultures. I have 2 published collections you might find uplifting, one about an island of equality (Sailing to Calencia and Other Poems of Kindness, Understanding, and Love, 51 pages) and a therapeutic workbook (A Twist of Hope: Rhymes of Healing, Caring, and Love, 222 pages). I look forward to working with you!
Knowing if you are on the autistic spectrum can be a liberating experience, making sense of things that were historically perplexing. I’ve seen how an accurate diagnosis can bring relief after years of trying to fit in via masking or dealing with other situations where differences are seen as problems. Our differences are what make us unique and interesting. Understanding how your neurodivergence manifests means considering the personal, social, and cultural impacts that have combined to shape you along the way. Our edges make us who we are, and understanding your unique way of viewing and construing things and supporting you on your journey to flourish, and sharing in that experience, is gratifying.
To tell your story, we’ll visit situations that have worked and ones that have been difficult, weaving the fabric of what you’ve been through to build and discover a more complete picture of you. I view a strength-based approach as one that begins with acceptance and understanding. Often, we under focus on our strengths and over focus on shortcomings and this fuels despair, which is unfair. Building on strengths creates an achievable mission, a practical and more beneficial way to proceed, with each step of awareness, a step towards greater self-respect. I view my work as an artist, painting a picture of you with words, consisting of observations, impressions, and input from our conversations. Creating an accurate synthesis of what we review and explore is rewarding and I may find a way to weave a rhyme into the finished report, if relevant. If you say why they’re great in a genuine way, they’ll remember you noticed the rest of their days.
