About
Hi, I'm Dr. Nicole Reed, a licensed clinical psychologist licensed in Virginia. I believe that understanding yourself is an important part of personal growth, and I'm passionate about helping individuals gain greater clarity about their experiences, identities, and ways of navigating the world. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect for each person's unique perspective. I recognize that seeking an autism assessment can be a meaningful and sometimes vulnerable experience, and my goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, sharing your experiences, and being yourself throughout the process.
I've always been interested in understanding the many different ways people experience, interpret, and interact with the world. What draws me to working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals is the opportunity to help people better understand themselves through a perspective that recognizes neurological differences as part of natural human diversity. I believe that autism is not something that needs to be fixed, but rather a different way of experiencing and engaging with the world. I'm particularly passionate about helping individuals who may have spent years feeling misunderstood or wondering why their experiences differ from those around them. My hope is that the assessment process provides greater clarity, validation, and a deeper understanding of who you are.
I approach each assessment with curiosity, compassion, and an appreciation for the individuality of every person I meet. Rather than making assumptions based on a diagnosis or focusing solely on challenges, I take time to understand your strengths, experiences, and the ways you navigate your environment. I recognize that factors such as culture, identity, relationships, and lived experiences can influence how individuals understand and express themselves. My approach is collaborative and neurodiversity-affirming, with an emphasis on helping you feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe that a meaningful assessment should go beyond identifying a diagnosis to provide insight that is personally relevant, empowering, and useful in your everyday life.
