About

Hello, and welcome! I’m Dr. Nathan Hale, a licensed clinical psychologist licensed to practice in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Utah, and Washington. My background includes training in both clinical and health psychology, and throughout my career I’ve worked with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, stress, life transitions, grief, and challenges with emotional regulation and executive functioning.

What I value most about this work is helping people better understand themselves and identify practical ways to improve their day-to-day lives. I believe effective care should be collaborative, individualized, and grounded in each person’s experiences, strengths, and goals. I bring curiosity, warmth, and a sense of humor to my work, and I value open, straightforward conversations where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

Education & Licensure

Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I was drawn to working with neurodivergent adults because I’ve always been interested in understanding the different ways people think, process information, and experience the world. Too often, neurodivergent adults have spent years being told what they should be able to do, or trying to fit expectations that don’t account for how they actually function.

I value the opportunity to help people develop a clearer understanding of themselves, including both their strengths and the areas where they may need additional support. My goal is to approach neurodivergence with curiosity and respect, recognizing that there is no single way a person should think, communicate, function, or experience the world.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I take an affirming, strengths-based approach by starting with the individual rather than a set of assumptions about how they should think, communicate, or function. I want to understand what comes naturally to each person, what matters to them, where they experience challenges, and what has helped them succeed.

Rather than viewing differences as deficits that need to be corrected, I focus on helping people recognize and build upon their existing strengths while identifying practical supports for areas that may be more difficult. My goal is for each person to leave with a better understanding of themselves and their needs, as well as greater confidence in navigating their lives in ways that work for them.
