About
Hello and welcome! My name is Miyako (or Mia for short). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California. I have experience supporting adolescents and adults across outpatient , school-based, forensic, and community mental health settings. My approach is warm, collaborative and neurodiversity-affirming, with a focus on creating a space where clients feel understood, respected, and supported as their authentic selves. I believe therapy works best when it is individualized, strengths-based, and grounded in genuine connection.
I'm drawn to working with autistic and neurodivergent clients because I value the importance of honoring different ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing the world. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel safe being themselves without pressure to "mask" who they are.
I take a strengths-based and neurodiversity affirming approach that focuses on helping clients better understand themselves rather than trying to "fix" who they are. I believe each person has unique strengths, perspectives, and abilities and I work with clients to build on those strengths while developing tools that support their goals, relationships, and overall wellbeing.
