About
Hello, I’m Michelle Evans, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Oxnard, California. For more than 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping children, adults, and families better understand themselves through comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. I’m licensed by the California Board of Psychology, and my work has always been driven by a deep belief that when you feel truly understood, you can begin to heal and grow.
I chose this path because I’ve always been drawn to understanding the unique ways people experience the world. Early in my career, I worked closely with children and families navigating autism and other neurodivergent diagnoses, and I saw firsthand how powerful it can be when someone finally feels understood. That moment—when a parent realizes their child’s strengths, or when an individual sees that their differences are not deficits but part of who they are—has stayed with me ever since.Specializing in autism and neurodivergence allows me to help you uncover clarity in what can often feel like confusion. I know that assessments and diagnoses aren’t just about labels; they’re about opening doors to support, resources, and self‑acceptance. My commitment is to walk alongside you, to provide not only accurate evaluations but also compassion, encouragement, and practical recommendations that make a real difference in your daily life.At the heart of my work is a simple belief: you deserve to be seen for who you are, supported in your challenges, and celebrated for your strengths. That’s what drives me every day.
When we work together, my focus is not on what feels “wrong” or “broken,” but on the strengths you already carry. Every person has unique abilities, perspectives, and ways of engaging with the world, and I see my role as helping you recognize and build upon those. Rather than centering on challenges, I help you discover the skills, resilience, and creativity that are already within you—and then we use those as the foundation for growth.I bring a strength-based and affirming approach to every evaluation and therapeutic interaction. That means I listen deeply, reflect back what I see in you, and provide recommendations that honor your individuality. For autistic and neurodivergent clients, this often looks like highlighting the talents, passions, and problem-solving abilities that may have been overlooked, and ensuring that any supports or accommodations are designed to help you thrive, not just “get by.”Compassion and affirmation guide my work. I want you to feel seen, respected, and valued—not defined by a diagnosis, but empowered by your potential. My commitment is to walk alongside you as you discover new ways to use your strengths in everyday life, whether that’s at school, at work, or in your relationships.I also belong to professional communities that emphasize neurodiversity-affirming practices, which means I stay connected to colleagues and affinity groups who share the same commitment to honoring differences and celebrating strengths. This helps me continually grow as a provider and ensures that the care I offer you is informed, inclusive, and affirming.
