Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

My interest in specializing in working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals grew through my clinical experience working with children with autism during my post-doctoral training. Throughout my work, I have found these experiences to be some of the most meaningful and rewarding parts of my career. I have enjoyed building strong therapeutic relationships with my clients and their families, learning about each individual’s unique strengths and challenges, and tailoring interventions to meet their specific needs.

Working with a neurodivergent clients has reinforced my belief in the importance of providing compassionate, individualized, and neurodiversity-affirming care. I value helping clients develop skills, build confidence, and feel understood and supported in an environment that respects their unique ways of experiencing the world. These experiences have inspired me to continue developing my expertise in working with neurodivergent individuals and have solidified my desire to specialize in this.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

My approach to working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals is grounded in the belief that every person possesses unique strengths, abilities, and perspectives that deserve to be recognized, valued, and nurtured. Rather than focusing primarily on deficits or challenges, I strive to understand each individual’s strengths, interests, and goals and use these as the foundation for therapeutic growth and support.

Through my experience working with children, teens, and adults with autism, I have found that meaningful progress occurs when clients feel understood, respected, and empowered. I take a compassionate, affirming, and individualized approach, collaborating closely with clients and their families to build on existing strengths while providing support in areas where challenges arise. I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment that promotes self-confidence, autonomy, and a sense of belonging, with the ultimate goal of helping each individual realize their full potential and thrive in ways that are meaningful to them.
