About
Hello, I’m Dr. Michaela Mozley and I work as a clinical and forensic psychologist. I reside in Chicago, Illinois and I am licensed to practice in Illinois and I can also practice using telehealth services in over 40 states through Psypact authorization. I specialize in conducting comprehensive evaluations of youth and adults involved in the legal system, assessing the impact of trauma exposure on individuals, and my background also includes experience conducting trauma-focused therapy.
My work as a forensic psychologist has often involved working with individuals who were misunderstood by the systems they interacted with or who had difficulty advocating for themselves and their needs. Related to this, my work has often involved identifying an individual’s strengths and treatment needs so that they can live healthy lives. Through this work, I have seen instances in which neurodivergent individuals were not provided services best suited to their needs due to being misunderstood by the systems they were part of. Thus, along with addressing those types of misunderstandings in my work more generally, I am also motivated to help neurodivergent individuals gain a better understanding of themselves so that they can be well-equipped to advocate for themselves when they need to.
I approach assessments with a sense curiosity and a non-judgmental tone, which I believe is the best way to learn about a client’s point of view, while avoiding making assumptions and areas of misunderstanding. I focus on learning about a client’s strengths, needs, and interests to help them reach their goals. Relatedly, through my work I have come to understand the importance of helping individuals gain a thorough understanding of themselves and their strengths in order to best reach their personal goals.
