About
Hello and welcome! I am so glad you are here. My name is Dr. Michael Farina. I live in Kentucky, where I am a licensed psychologist with a Health Service Provider designation.
What drives me as a provider is a deep passion for helping people feel empowered by providing clear answers and real peace of mind. For over thirty years, I have worked in mental health, teaching graduate students how to perform assessments and working directly with clients just like you. I know that seeking an evaluation can feel like a big step, but I believe information helps empower and I like creating a safe, comfortable space where you feel completely heard, respected, and understood.
Every person's brain is wired a little differently, and our life stories are entirely unique. My goal is to partner with you through this telehealth journey, helping you uncover your true strengths and find the clarity you need to move forward with confidence.
My reason for focusing on neurodiversity comes from a deep respect for how beautifully unique the human brain can be. Over my decades as a psychologist and professor, I have seen how often autistic and neurodivergent adults are misunderstood by a world built for a single type of mind. This inspired me to specialize in this path. I wanted to make sure you have access to an evaluator who doesn't just look at a list of symptoms, but truly understands and appreciates how you think and experience the world.
I am constantly inspired by the distinct perspectives, incredible strengths, and resilience of the neurodivergent community. My goal is to use my years of experience to give you the clear, accurate answers you deserve. Together, we will look past the labels to highlight your personal strengths, helping you navigate life's challenges and build a future where you can truly thrive just as you are.
I believe that an evaluation should never feel like a search for what is "wrong" with you. Instead, I approach our time together as a way to map out how your brain works best. While we will certainly talk about the things that cause you stress or friction in daily life, my main focus is on recognizing, naming, and building upon your natural strengths.
To bring this affirming approach to our work, I listen closely to your lived experiences and completely validate your journey. I treat you as the absolute expert on your own life. By focusing on your unique talents, problem-solving skills, and resilience, we can reframe your challenges and highlight the tools you already have. My commitment is to provide a compassionate, affirming space where you can show up authentically, understand your mind's true potential, and leave our sessions feeling empowered to live life on your own terms.
