Thank you for checking out my profile. I'm Melinda Stoops and I am a licensed psychologist living and working in Massachusetts. In my work, I prioritize the connection with my clients - whether I'm meeting with someone a single time or for ongoing therapy, I believe it's important to establish an environment that feels safe and welcoming. I believe we thrive by using our strengths and will encourage you to consider your strengths as we navigate our work together.
I've worked in higher education settings for over twenty years. During that time, I've connected with a number of autistic students in various ways. Sometimes it is in the context of interacting at an event or in a class. At other times, it is working with a student to approach a challenging situation. Although individuals with autism share some commonalities, I recognize that there are many qualities that make each person unique, regardless of diagnosis. I enjoy getting to know people as individuals and helping them navigate challenges in ways that work best for them.
I take a collaborative approach to my work. Although I have certain areas of expertise, I recognize that each client is the expert on him-/her-/themselves. Together, I believe we can get a full understanding of what's helpful for you in navigating challenges and achieving your goals.
