About
Greetings and welcome! My name is Mekea Simon, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the great state of Texas. I am honored that you've taken this step and excited to walk alongside you on your journey.I am passionate about building meaningful connections and creating a safe, supportive environment where you feel respected, valued, understood, and heard. I believe every person brings unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives, and I look forward to partnering with you to explore your goals and navigate life's challenges. My approach is grounded in authenticity, compassion, and collaboration. I am committed to meeting you where you are, offering a nonjudgmental space, and providing consistent, structured care that is both flexible and tailored to your individual needs. Together, we will build on your strengths, cultivate resilience, and create opportunities for healing, growth, and lasting change so that you can move forward with greater confidence and purpose.
My eighteen years of experience working with special populations within the public education system provided me with the opportunity to advocate for students, ensure their individual needs were met, and uphold federal, state, and local policies designed to promote equitable access and meaningful support. This work reinforced my belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive in environments that recognize and value their unique abilities. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice and a group facilitator within an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), I integrate multimodal therapeutic approaches and evidence-based interventions to support neurodivergent clients in building insight, strengthening connections, and fostering personal growth. My clinical work is grounded in the understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing or success.I am passionate about collaborating with neurodiverse clients in a way that celebrates their individuality, unique perspectives, and inherent strengths. Rather than viewing neurodivergence through a deficit-based lens, I recognize the creativity, resilience, innovation, and insight that neurodivergent individuals contribute to their relationships, communities, and the world around them. While they often navigate systems that were not designed with their needs in mind, they continue to adapt, flourish, and redefine what success looks like on their own terms.Working alongside neurodiverse individuals is both a privilege and an ongoing opportunity for growth and learning. Each person offers a distinct way of experiencing and understanding the world, continually expanding my own perspective and deepening my commitment to providing affirming, collaborative, and strengths-based care that honors lived experiences, empowers authentic self-expression, and supports clients in achieving their personal goals.
I ground my work in a strengths-based philosophy, recognizing and building upon the resilience, abilities, and inner resources that each individual already possesses. Rather than focusing solely on challenges or deficits, I partner with clients to identify their existing strengths and use them as the foundation for meaningful growth, healing, and lasting change. My therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration, ensuring that every step of the process reflects your voice, values, and goals. I strive to create a space defined by compassion, where you feel heard and understood; affirmation, where your identity and lived experiences are honored; and commitment, as I walk alongside you through life's challenges and successes.I believe that transformation is most powerful when it emerges from a place of empowerment. Together, we will cultivate insight, build on your strengths, and create opportunities for growth that support you in becoming the fullest expression of yourself.
