About

Hello! My name is Dr. Maureen Khan, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Illinois. I specialize in psychological and neuropsychological assessments, particularly diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and working with neurodivergent individuals of all ages. I have a passion for assessing individuals who are high-masking and whose autism symptoms may have gone unnoticed during childhood and adolescence. I strive to help you best understand yourself and get the support you need to grow, thrive, be your true self, and live your best life.

Education & Licensure
Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University, Illinois; Bachelors in Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
Treatment Approach
What motivated you to specialize in working with autistic adults?

I have been passionate about working with neurodivergent individuals of all ages since I began my clinical training. In a community mental health setting, I assessed children and adolescents for autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and other related conditions. Providing a proper diagnosis and recommendations to help children thrive was highly rewarding, and I have continued supporting neurodivergent individuals of all ages since. I have also experienced firsthand the challenges neurodivergent individuals, especially those who are high-masking and do not ‘look’ like they are struggling, can encounter without the supports and accommodations they need. I am strongly motivated to provide clarity and validation through assessment and proper diagnosis to help individuals access supports and accommodations that are best suited for them and emphasize their unique strengths and needs.

How do you bring a strengths-based, affirming approach to your client work?

I always strive to meet individuals where they are at and to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for them to feel comfortable, unmask, and openly share their experiences-- whilst also acknowledging some of these experiences can be difficult to discuss. I actively listen and seek to understand with empathy. When making recommendations for supports and accommodations, I work with individuals to meet their values and goals in a collaborative manner.
