Mark Forman
About
Mark Forman, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist with twenty-five years experience working with individuals, couples, teens, and families. He has most recently authored a book called The Monster's Journey: From Trauma to Connection, which is a boon intended for survivors of childhood trauma. Dr. Forman graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Delaware where he studied philosophy and religion and is a long term practitioner of yoga. Mark has extensive experiences with persons on the spectrum, including in his own family, so he is comfortable and pleased to be able to serve that community through assessments with Proper Health. He spent ten years as a child-and-adolescent psychotherapist and has trained in a wide variety of adult therapeutic settings and with a number of different adult clinical populations as well.
I spent a year of training at Kaiser Permanente in one of their child and adolescent mental health centers, and autism spectrum issues were a large part of our training. In addition, during that time my son received a diagnosis of autism, so I was learning personally as well. These two things combined - and having seen persons on the spectrum in my private practice - motivate to serve this population.
I bring a strengths-based approach to my would with individuals on spectrum, looking for areas where they thrive, not only areas in which they might struggle. I believe this strengths focused view leads to the best outcomes for all involved.
