Marie Lisa Dunbar
About
Hello and glad to meet you! My name is Lisa Dunbar and I currently live in the suburbs of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. I am licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Therapy should be normalized like seeing a primary doctor, and there is no judgement here, only acceptance and understanding.
I feel passionate about marginalized people, and feel that working with neurodivergent adults helps them have a voice and advocacy is something meaningful and worthwhile. I feel that everyone should have a voice regardless of their skills. I stand for eliminating stigma when it comes to seeking mental health treatment. I want to be that sound board, and listening ear when you need a confidant and interested unbiased third party. I will provide a safe space for you to be yourself and feel comfortable obtaining support from me. We will work in a collaborative fashion, and I will be more of a, "back-up dancer," while you are the headliner. It will be my pleasure to assist you in improving your status in life, and helping you attain the level of wellness that you are seeking.
I work from a Person-Centered Approach with a strength-based lens. I believe in focusing on what is going well with clients instead of focusing on deficits. I feel strongly in providing an avenue for clients to be seen and heard. I feel strongly in empowering clients to live their best authentic lives. I use reflective listening, validate emotions, and offer support and guidance. Clients will feel welcomed, and be able to express themselves freely.
