About
Hello! I'm Dr. Margaret. I'm a licensed psychologist in Ohio, though I'm originally from Louisiana. My background is school psychology, with a focus on young/elementary-aged children with autism and other disabilities. My career shifted when I moved to Ohio in 2019 and began working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I love helping folks find answers to their questions, and, perhaps even more importantly, guiding them on a path to a better life, whether that means building up self-advocacy skills, gaining the courage to start therapy, developing good mental health hygiene, etc. Schedule an appointment and let's figure it out together!
I have been working with autistic children and adolescents since graduating from college in 2011, and began working with adults, too, shortly after obtaining my PhD in 2019. I feel a strong connection to this community as I grew up with family members on the spectrum and understand the unique strengths and challenges autistic folks face. My goal is to help clients develop more insight--how do symptoms or challenges 'show up' for you, what is (or isn't) working for you, what you'd like to change, etc. I'd love for you to leave our appointments feeling empowered.
I strongly believe in a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to supporting clients. Let's pull out what's going well in your life and leverage that! It is also VERY important to me that I'm "actively" listening to you during our appointments. Basically that means I often reflect back what you've shared to make sure I'm getting it right. I want you to leave our appointments feeling heard and motivated.
